# The Plumber List ## About Independent plumbing professional directory. Not a referral service or lead-generation platform. We aggregate publicly available business information to help consumers find and compare local plumbers. ## Data Fields Tracked Per Listing - Business name, address, phone, website URL - Service categories (23 taxonomy tags) - Operating hours - Service areas - Claimed/owner-verified status - Website health status (valid, unreachable, third-party, etc.) - Data enrichment date - Review count and aggregate rating (from native reviews) ## How Listings Are Verified Listings go through multiple eligibility checks before weak or incorrect records are displayed or submitted for indexing: 1. Import gate — business name validation, ZIP/state mismatch detection, non-business pattern suppression 2. Website validation — HEAD check, third-party domain detection, domain auto-generation heuristic 3. Post-publish QA — 404 slug detection, junk/scraped address detection, zero-result service filter identification 4. Enrichment — services mapped from website scrape, address parsing, hours detection Automated checks flag or suppress listings that appear incorrect. Manual review is applied where automated checks cannot determine listing validity. ## Last Checked Listings may show the most recent date when business details or websites were checked. Public labels use plain factual notices such as Website checked, Website not yet verified, Services found on business website, and Business details may need confirmation. Website checks are re-run during enrichment cycles. Address, phone, and service data are checked on initial import and updated via regular enrichment scans. ## Claim / Edit Policy Business owners may submit a claim with contact details and supporting ownership information. Every claim requires manual administrative review; public phone numbers or website-domain email addresses do not trigger automatic approval. Claimed listings display a "Claimed" badge. Edits to claimed listings require owner approval via the claim verification process. All reviews are moderated before display. We comply with FTC guidelines on endorsements. We do not generate, incentivize, or fabricate reviews. Detection patterns: - Multiple reviews from same IP within 24 hours are flagged - Reviews containing promotional URLs are rejected - Reviews on unclaimed listings are held for manual moderation ## States -
